Ice Skating in Thousand Oaks Is Back

An outdoor rink, a Ferris wheel, a Super Slide and hot chocolate by the fire pits. Here's everything you need to plan your first skate of the 2026–27 season.

If you grew up in the Conejo Valley, you might remember skating at the holiday rink at The Lakes, which ran its last season in 2019–20. This winter, outdoor ice skating comes back to Thousand Oaks. Ice at The Oaks opens Friday, November 6, 2026 at 147 W Thousand Oaks Blvd and is open every day through Sunday, January 10, 2027.

It's real ice, under the open sky and string lights, built and managed by Special Ice in partnership with Eventful LA. It's an easy trip from Westlake Village, Newbury Park, Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Moorpark, Simi Valley and Camarillo.

Opening night: doors open at 5 PM on November 6 for our Grand Opening Free Skate, free for the first 50 guests from 5 to 6 PM. Regular sessions follow at 6:30 and 8:30 PM.

When we're open

Every public session is 90 minutes on the ice, followed by a fresh resurface. On school days we skate in the afternoons and evenings:

  • Monday – Thursday: 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Friday: 3:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Saturday: 11:00 AM – 10:30 PM
  • Sunday: 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM

During Thanksgiving week (Nov 23–29) and winter break (Dec 19 – Jan 4) we're open all day, 11:00 AM – 10:30 PM daily. Christmas Eve runs 11 AM to 6:30 PM and Christmas Day 1 PM to 8:30 PM. The full calendar, day by day, is on our Sessions & Hours page.

Theme Tuesdays and Late Skates

Every Tuesday from late November, the last two sessions of the night get a theme. Dress up, skate along and grab a photo:

  • Nov 24: Friendsgiving Skate
  • Dec 1: Ugly Sweater Skate
  • Dec 8: Glow Skate
  • Dec 15: Holiday PJ Skate
  • Dec 22: Reindeer Games Night
  • Dec 29: '80s & '90s Night
  • Jan 5: Snowflake Send-Off

On Fridays and Saturdays, the 9 PM session is our Late Skate, the best way to end a night out in Thousand Oaks.

More than ice: rides and treats

Right next to the rink you'll find a 40-foot Ferris wheel that glows after dark and a 100-foot Super Slide with three racing lanes. Ride tickets are $1 each or 20 for $20, and every ride is 5 tickets. You don't need a skating ticket to ride. Then warm up with hot chocolate, funnel cakes, cotton candy and s'mores. See it all on our Rides & Treats page.

Learn to skate this winter

Never skated before? Our coaches teach Sunday-morning classes: 9:00 AM for ages 10 & under (4 is the youngest) and 10:00 AM for ages 11 & up, grown-ups included. Session 1 runs Nov 22 – Dec 13 and Session 2 runs Dec 20 – Jan 10, four Sundays each, for $175 with rental skates included. Details and sign-up are on the Learn to Skate page.

Birthday parties, field trips and private ice

Celebrate on the ice with a party package (starting at $299 for up to 10 skaters), bring a class for a field trip ($18 per student, minimum 25), raise money with a fundraiser night, or rent the whole rink for a company party. Start on our Groups & Parties page.

Good to know before you go

  1. Dress for the ice. Gloves, warm layers and tall socks are a must. Helmets are welcome and recommended for young skaters.
  2. Arrive early. Get here 20 to 30 minutes before your session to check in, grab skates and lace up.
  3. Sign the waiver. Every skater needs a quick digital waiver, and parents sign for kids.
  4. It's cashless. We take all major cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  5. Check the weather. Our Live Feed shows the rink cam and any weather updates, and the FAQ covers rain, rentals, rules and parking.

We can't wait to see you on the ice this winter. Questions? Call us at (805) 292-0057 or email info@iceattheoaks.com.
